A finely woven small lidded basket made from sweet grass and a birch bark base, with colorful bits of dyed porcupine quills woven into the walls. The Birch bark lid features a white buffalo expertly crafted with porcupine quills. Measures 5" long by 2" tall. The signature of the artist, Adeline Noack is clear and located on the inside, on the Birch bark base.
Adeline was born January 23, 1942 in Manistique, MI. Adeline was known for making sweet grass baskets and was called the sweet grass lady. Adeline was member in good standing of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. Her Indian name translates into Ceremonial Feather Woman. Adeline was a member of the Oconto River Bowmen. She passed to the spirit world in June of 2008.
The White Buffalo is known to Native peoples as the most sacred creature on the planet.
White Buffalo is a sign of hope and good things to come.
